In addition to his agricultural roots, Alex has always been captivated by aviation. Inspired by his father, Lon McRae, who became a private pilot, Alex vividly remembers family flights to McCall and West Yellowstone in their small plane. These moments sparked a lifelong fascination with flight.

Alex earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Brigham Young University-Idaho and initially planned to pursue a career in dentistry. However, in 2020, he followed a deeper calling and redirected his focus. During college, Alex worked for a top pest control company, gaining valuable experience as a sales trainer and traveling across the country. This experience taught him the value of customer service and excellence, but it also showed him a better way to serve customers.

That insight led Alex to establish Nature Shield, a company that prioritizes high-quality pest control and lawn care solutions with a customer-focused approach. Drawing on his knowledge of biology and business, Alex built Nature Shield to help families protect their homes and enjoy beautiful, pest-free outdoor spaces.

In 2024, Alex saw an opportunity to merge his passions for aviation and agriculture with modern technology. This vision gave rise to Alair Ag Drones, a company dedicated to transforming the agricultural industry through innovative aerial application services. With drones at the forefront, Alair Ag Drones offers farmers precision spraying solutions that enhance productivity, combat pests and disease, and promote sustainable farming practices. Alex views this as a revolutionary advancement for agriculture in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

The McRae family includes Alex, Andriana, their children Hyrum, Margaret, Duncan, and a new addition arriving in June 2025. Since their marriage in 2015, Alex and Andriana have lived in eight states, but their hearts are firmly planted in Idaho, which they proudly call home.

Outside of work, Alex is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, horseback riding, and Idaho’s stunning landscapes. He’s also a firearms enthusiast and foodie who loves exploring local favorites like Tin Roof Tacos and The STIL ice cream shop.
